Dance Dance Revolution was released in 1998 by Konami for Arcades, being released a year later also for Sony's PlayStation.

The player has to peform the instructions given by the interface by stepping on the arrows they are instructed to step on, 'performing dance moves'. The player is judged is they do it good or not, with good scores resulting in the Dance Gauge being filled up, while bad scores deplete it, and cause the game to end. Depending on how many the Arcade Operator set up, there can be up to five songs that the game can play.
